Internet shoppers in the United States alone, spent $50.4 billion online during 2003, an increase of 26.3% from the previous year, according to figures from the US Commerce Department. Online sales in the fourth quarter reached a record $17.2 billion, increasing four times as fast as all retail sales, the report found.
